Meet the Roborovski Hamster!

Are they your perfect pet?

The Roborovski Hamster is the smallest, fastest, and jumpiest breed of pet hamsters. They are also known as the Desert Hamster, or simply, Robo Hamster.

So how are they as pets? Robos are friendly to humans and very social with other Robos. They have the best longevity and are not prone to any diseases. But they are also very jumpy and fast. Do you think this is a pet you'll like spending time with for the next few years?

Health. Unlike the other pet hamsters, Roborovski typically lives the longest, about 3 to 3.5 years. That's even longer than the bigger Syrian hamster. Perhaps their constant speed keeps their body in tip-top shape. Because they are also not prone to getting very common diseases like cancer, obesity, and diabetes like the other hamsters. If their health and longevity is one of your concerns, Robos would be an great choice!

Breeding. Robos are most active in November and December and wake at night. They breed about 3-4 times a year between April and September. Their litters are medium sized and males play a role in parenting.

Social. Humans can tame and train Robos but at times they can be harder just because they are so fast. Handling may be more difficult as a result. They can be friendly sharing a cage with other Robos, especially if the other Robos were kept together before weaned. Would you like a speedy pet or would you prefer a slow, calm one?
