Campbells Vs. Winter Whites. People used to think the Winter White Hamster and Campbells were the same species so people often get them confused when referring to their shared names. They look very similar and can co-exist in some cases.
Health. These hamsters love to munch on seeds and veggies. They normally live around 1.5 to 2 years which is on the shorter side for hamsters. They are prone to develop cancer and obesity.
Breeding. They can breed 3 to 4 times a year, especially from April to September. They also have large litters such as 7 to 8 pups. It helps that the male parent is always there to help. Their pups are easy to raise. Are you planning to raise hamsters? These hamsters are great for breeding.
Social. Campbells wake around 6PM an are most active in February to March. They are slow moving and easy to handle. They are friendly to humans and other Campbell hamsters as long as they have enough territory to not feel invaded.
